More precise and better postoperative surgeries with 3D planning and minimally invasive techniques.

Precise dental surgery in Barcelona with 3D technology

Oral and maxillofacial surgery encompasses all surgical techniques applied to the oral cavity and the maxillary or facial bones.

In our dental clinic we have an advanced surgical team led by the Dra. Satorrescurrently Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the International University of Catalonia, where she also serves as Vice-Dean of Research.

In addition, we have the help of an experienced team of anesthesiologists for cases that require sedation, achieving more comfortable surgeries for our patients.

Most frequent interventions

  • Extraction of third molars (wisdom teeth)

These teeth take the longest to erupt (between 18 and 25 years of age) and when they do, there is usually a lack of space. We recommend extracting them to avoid dental crowding, pain and inflammation of the gums. If your orientation affects neighboring molars, we will also recommend extraction.

  • Pre-prosthetic surgery

We condition the gum or bone of our patients for the subsequent placement of implants and prostheses. Bone or gum grafts are the most common interventions, and allow us to restore dental support and achieve a good fit of the oral rehabilitation.

  • Orthognathic surgery

When orthodontics is not enough to restore the bone structure of our patients, it is necessary the intervention of a maxillofacial surgeon, who will propose a combined treatment with our orthodontist to reposition the bones and teeth in the optimal position and thus restore function and aesthetics to the patient.

  • Zygomatic and pterygoid implants

These are long implants that we place in patients who present an insufficient amount of bone to place our conventional implants. The zygomatic implants are anchored to the cheekbones and the pterygoid implants to the tuberosity area. They are bones of greater hardness and density.

  • Braces surgery

Braces are located above the upper or lower incisors, or under the tongue. We recommend surgery when they are very tight and hinder speech, swallowing or affect the position of the teeth.

  • Extraction of teeth included

Teeth that do not emerge (usually canines) and are retained inside the bone can cause problems in the eruption of neighboring teeth, cysts or infections. Our surgical techniques allow us to extract the tooth or position it correctly depending on the case.

Advantages of our oral and maxillofacial surgery

Minimally invasive surgeries

The skills of Dr. Satorres make our surgeries shorter, less painful and with better postoperative results, being faithful to our minimally invasive principle.

3D planning

Our surgeon diagnoses and plans surgical cases with our 3D CBCT, ensuring more precise and safer surgeries.

Avant-garde materials

We use the most biocompatible and regenerative materials in our regenerative surgeries.

Multidisciplinary rehabilitation

For advanced maxillofacial surgery cases we have the collaboration of a renowned maxillofacial surgeon. His rapport with our surgeon and orthodontist allows us to perform first class multidisciplinary rehabilitations.

What are minimally invasive surgeries?

These are the surgical techniques and procedures that allow us to minimize the impact of interventions, reducing inflammation, pain and surgical time. The skills and knowledge of the surgeon and his team are critical to achieving these results.

What role does 3D technology play in surgeries?

3D surgical planning ensures more precise and safer surgeries. Analyzing the positioning of the nerve structures in relation to the teeth allows us to perform extractions more safely. Studying the quantity and quality of bone in 3 dimensions helps us to make more accurate grafts and to guide implant surgeries, placing them in the most optimal position.

What skills do top surgeons have?

A good surgeon manages to make the difficult easy, the complex simple and this translates into shorter and less invasive surgeries with the structures of the oral cavity. Only good surgeons perform advanced studies and diagnoses, apply the most advanced techniques and materials, and have well-prepared nursing teams.
